British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Scheme

The British Gymnastics Trampoline Proficiency
Award Scheme has been designed to provide a nationwide personal incentive scheme for all student trampolinists and to encourage
natural ability and a sense of achievement. The schemes are all progressive in structure and easy to administer. All of the
Awards are based on the concept of completing a number of moves from each level before progressing to the next one. Every Award consists of different levels
of varying ability and has a badge and certificate designated to it. On completion of each level the participant will become
eligible to purchase the badge and certificate if they so desire.
The Trampoline Proficiency Award Scheme has fifteen levels, divided into 3 sections: Levels
1-5 developing foundation skills, levels 6-10 intermediate skills and levels 11-15 developing more advanced skills. A trampolinist
who achieves the first ten awards will be eligible for the British Gymnastics Trampoline Medal.
Awards are based on accomplishment
of specific routines (see below) and moves designed to improve skills and ability. The Awards are in recognition of the hard work and effort, as well as the commitment and dedication required
to achieve these skills. By working through the Awards programme, and indication
is given on the progression and achievement the student is making. The Awards
are based on set routines and moves that have to be achieved, as set out by the BGA.
The skills are assessed individually and in combination in the form of a routine. Routines are performed by gymnasts
from Award 6 onwards.
These schemes are ideal for meeting National Curriculum
requirements. The schemes provide coaches with a structured approach to sessions, whilst building confidence and increasing
the trampolinists sense of achievement. The Proficiency Scheme provides the basis
for all British Schools Gymnastics Association organised competitions, thus not only providing an opportunity for all to receive
the awards, but also allowing the school or club to enter competitions.

Trampoline Routines
Trampoline routines are made up of 10 bounces, which consist
of any part of the body that touches the trampoline bed. Body landings can be feet, seat, front or back landings.
For each award the gymnast has to perform at least one routine as well as show a set number of skills. A skill
cannot be repeated in the routine, nor can it include any straight bounces once the routine has started. The difficulty
of the routine is determined by it's tariff. This means the amount of twists that each move has. For every half
turn (or twist) a tariff of 0.1 is assigned. To give you some indication - the 2008 Beijing Olympics trampoline final
routines had tariff assigned of around 14.0+!!
Below are some British Gymnastics (BG) Routines which are linked to the Award scheme,
